Athletics Day

Today was athletics day. We had an awesome time running, jumping and throwing. Thanks Mr Ratcliffe for organising such a fun time.

Chair Challenge Update

Check out the chairs we designed and created out of only paper and cello tape. Miss Butel wasn't allowed to give us any advice or help. We think we did a pretty good job!

Chair Challenge

On Thursday Miss Butel set us a team work challenge to create a chair using only newsprint and cello tape. These photos show how well we worked together. Check back next week to see what our chairs look like. 

Planting in the Meadow

Last week we made and planted seed balls in the meadow to develop this space as a place for butterflies. 

Grandparent's Afternoon

Our grandparents came to visit for a special afternoon. We had a lovely time visiting the art exhibition, making afternoon tea, reading together and making photo frames.

On Tuesday Reagan's dad Greg helped us take photographs of our butterflies. We had a great time placing objects meaningful to us around our butterflies. These photos communicate to others that butterflies are a special part of nature.

Today is Crazy Hair Day!

Book week

This week is book week. On Monday we had a visit from an author who has written a book called 'Doggy Dits' - an A-Z poem book about different dogs. 

On Tuesday we had a book character dress up day. We had a junior school parade to show everyone our costumes. We all looked super cool!

Artist visit

We had a visit from Graham Dodd who taught us how to draw a scene from nature. We learnt about perspective and shading and all drew amazing pieces of art. 

100 Day Party

After reaching 100 days as Year 1s we had a party. We made the number 100 with our bodies.

We have been learning how to ask how the weather is in Maori.

Madam Butterfly

On Monday we had a visit from Madam Butterfly. We really enjoyed learning about how butterflies eat, see, smell and feel and loved watching Mrs Elmore transform into a beautiful butterfly. 

Assembly

Today was our assembly with Rm 9 and 10. We all did a great job of acting and speaking.

Today our class butterfly, Sparky, hatched out of his chrysalis. We really enjoyed watching him dry his wings. 

Rockstar Disco

On Friday we went to the Rockstar Disco in the school hall. We spray painted our hair, wore tattoos and looked like little punk rockers and best of all got our groove on and danced the night away.
